Off Road Triathlon Plans for XTERRA Whistler

"Having some Ironman and marathon cycling experience, I was looking for a change in pace and, frankly, to bring some enjoyment back to my training and racing life. For me, training to compete at my best level gives me the most enjoyment, and best day-to-day overall physical and mental health. I expressed my goals to Kristian, with the aim of being competitive for my age group in off-road / XTERRA style triathlons, while still having the time and freedom to enjoy life with my family. In 2019, I had a very good result in my age group at the Whistler X Triathlon, then suffered a catastrophic injury shortly after while mountain biking that had be on the shelf for a year. In late 2020, we picked up where we left off. Overweight, understrength, and with low endurance when we started back up, Kristian guided me to two podium finishes in 2021 (Whistler X, Victoria XTERRA)- all while carrying around 30 fewer pounds. I am now back to the high level of overall fitness and mental health that I aim for."

Our training plans are created by your race director Kristian Manietta who has been coaching endurance athletes since 2006. Kristian has raced triathlons since 2002, from sprint through to Ironman, both road and off road. He raced XTERRA World Championships back in 2010. 

You’ll get a well-structured plan that will enable you to enjoy completing the race, while also getting all the tips and tools related to the XTERRA Whistler course and terrain.

We have plan options for both beginners looking to complete the XTERRA Whistler Sprint or Championship courses with confidence and experienced triathletes who are wanting to take their results to the next level.

The plans begin June 24. Participants will receive an email from Coach Kristian with login access to a detailed plan via Training Peaks every 4 weeks.
